Its hard to pigeon hole St.Ives and probably a bad idea.
You could call it a harbour town rich in history, but that would risk overlooking its leading role in 20th century British art and the presence of Tate St Ives, as well as many thriving, smaller galleries and a community of working artists. It also has world class, family friendly beaches, as well as those for the avid surfer alongside excellent restaurants, cafes and bars that vie for your attention with a rich diversity of shops along, narrow, winding streets.
